Game Day

Game Day

Journal entry by megan steele — Aug 27, 2019

Yesterday I left the house with cancer and I returned home without it. I had an amazing medical team and the best surgeon. A lot was involved, much of it not so fun, but at the end of the day, everything went exactly as my surgeon expected and that makes me happy. I do not take for granted all that was done for me and the sheer fact that I have access to this kind of health care. I also do not take for granted the support system I have. A loving family, great friends and a caring work environment all pitching in for my sake. It breaks my heart to think of anyone going into this alone. Mad props to my husband Jeramy, for being by my side through this intense day. (I love you so much!) Eventually I’ll have an appt with an oncologist as well as a post op appt where I’ll hear the results of any findings of the cancer and lymph nodes that were sent to be tested. But for now, I’m exhausted, sore and about to have my first cup of coffee in 36 hours. So I’m going to focus on that.
